HomeUSA Social Good App

the HOMEUSA app is a portal that welcomes new immigrants to the United States by providing personalized curated information about starting a life in America. The responsive website and dedicated app offer many resources and useful information to help new immigrants in their new life in the United States.

User Personas

I analyzed several “new immigrant” guides from around the world in order to find strengths and weaknesses in their offerings. Most of the available guides are hard to navigate and fill with information that is not relevant to the state where the immigrant resides. In addition, after talking with several new immigrants, it was apparent that there is a lack of accessibility features for the information that is out there and available at the moment.

Problem Statement

I created problem statements for each user persona. This was an important step in the process as it provided a clear goal in which to frame the problem.

Wireframing

Paper Wireframes

In this quick ideation exercise, I sketched an interface that allowed for blocks of content to be displayed and injected with curated content from official resources.

Digital Wireframes

In this stage, I created digital wireframes for the app. The designs focused on delivering a personalized guide to new immigrants based on the state where they reside. The App will offer a short summary of the topic of interest and prompt the user to explore the more in-deep official resource by taping the visit resource button.

Responsive Desings

The designs for screen size variation included mobile, tablet, and desktop. I optimized the design to fit the specific user needs of each device and screen size.
