The Hilltop Drive-in is a recently renovated modern drive-in theater located in Massachusetts. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the theater has seen constant customer growth as it aims to provide a safe and enjoyable space for movie lovers. This project was part of the Google UX certification.
User Personas
User personas confirmed initial assumptions about the Hilltop Drive-In, but research
also revealed that customers and potential customers that are not native English speakers
had challenges and limitations when enjoying the movie.
User Journey Map
Mapping Camile’s journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to
a dedicated Hilltop Drive-In app. I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m
designing for and their needs.
Wireframing
Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized a quick and easy selection of the movie title and time.
Sample of the wireframes created for this project.
The low-fidelity prototype connected the primary user flow of purchasing movie tickets, including selecting snacks and food as well as the checkout process. In addition, the flow showcases the accessibility options build such as captions, audio options, and handicap reserved spaces.
The hi-fi prototype followed the same “ticket and snack order” user flow as the lo-fi prototype and included the design changes made after the usability study.
CONCLUSION
For this project, it was paramount to take into consideration the implementation of accessibility features.
Taking a look at the most important things I have learned.
Among many things to improve in the future here are the 2 more important next steps.
