The FIX: Heartbreak and Hope Inside Our Opioid Crisis exhibit at the Indiana State Museum aims to break the stigma surrounding opioid use disorder in the United States. In this exhibit, visitors have the opportunity to dive deeper into the opioid crisis by engaging with interactive media and inspiring artwork. This exhibit won the 2020 Best Practices Award by the Association of Midwest Museums.
In this interactive piece, visitors learn about stigma and how to combat it. Through interactive text-based conversations, visitors follow a story path to explore possible responses to someone in recovery.
Interactive Conversation
After selecting one story, visitors participate in a conversation between a sufferer and a friend. For each answer, they get feedback on how appropriate/accurate their comment is. The activity concludes by showing visitors a summary of learning points.

The main touch kiosk features a time slider as well as filters. By touching a county on the map, visitors can access that county's key data.
